The RNC BMX Titanium Ceramic Bottom Bracket Bearings are engineered to deliver an extreme combination of low weight, strength, wear resistance, and smooth operation for high-performance BMX applications.
The bearing races are precision CNC machined from 6Al-4V titanium, heat treated and aged to approximately 170,000 PSI tensile strength.
The titanium races are then electroless nickel-silicon carbide plated for exceptional surface hardness and wear resistance.
The electroless nickel coating reaches approximately 70 Rockwell C, while the embedded silicon carbide nanoparticles measure approximately 9.5 on the Mohs hardness scale — approaching the hardness of diamond.
This extremely hard, wear-resistant surface is designed to provide exceptional bearing life while retaining the weight savings of titanium races.
The bearings use premium Si3N4 silicon nitride ceramic balls, selected for their exceptional strength, toughness, hardness, and low weight.
Unlike conventional caged BMX bearings, these are full-complement bearings, eliminating the traditional ball cage and allowing more bearing balls to be used.
The combination of the 20-ball full-complement design and deeper races is engineered for substantially increased load capacity and durability compared with conventional BMX bottom bracket bearings.
The bearing seals are CNC machined from PTFE (Teflon) for extremely low friction, excellent chemical resistance, and long-lasting smooth operation.
